DCS ANNOUNCES CHANGES IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS TO HELP FIND PERMANENT HOMES FOR CHILDREN, ENSURE THEIR NEEDS ARE MET



Hopefully every foster parent is aware of the DCS policy that now gives the adoptive parents 100% of the applicable foster care per diem for the post-adoption subsidy. This is good news because it not only provides adoptive parents with continued assistance for their children, but it accelerates the adoption process by removing the burdensome negotiations. I have attached a copy of the letter from the Governor's Office. Please call my office if you are interested in adopting your foster child and you have questions about adoption assistance.

Good news for adoptions of foster children! As of July 1st, there is no longer a minimum age requirement for adoption subsidies for healthy foster children. The previous law excluded healthy foster children under the age of 2 from receiving adoption subsidies after the adoption was finalized. All foster care children adopted after July 01, 2024, will be eligible for a daily subsidy, Medicaid, and non-recurring adoption expense reimbursement. About Tammy





TAMMY M. MINGER


Tammy M. Minger graduated from Indiana University School of Law in 1988. She was a Monroe County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney from 1988 until 1997, at which time she left the prosecutor's office to realize her goal of opening her own law office. While a deputy prosecutor, Tammy prosecuted a wide range of cases, but her concentration was in the area of domestic violence. Tammy recognized the negative impact that domestic violence had on children, and she was naturally drawn to Family Law as a means of helping families and children whose lives had been disrupted by abuse and neglect. She has received recognition from Middle Way House and from the Indiana University Protective Order Project. She has served as a volunteer attorney for the CASA program for several years. In the spring of 2008, she was invited to become a board member of Family Service Association/Mental Health America ("FSA/MHA"), which was CASA's governing board. After CASA officially left the FSA/MHA organization in the fall of 2009 to become an independent agency, Tammy accepted an invitation to become a board member for CASA, Inc. and served in that role through October 2012. Tammy owns Minger Law Office, concentrating in adoptions, and lives in Bloomington with her husband, Jerry, and two of her four children.
